School Spectacular...

What an amazing night at School Spectacular!

This year marked the 33rd year of the annual school talent event, which features a choir, symphony orchestra, stage band and solo performers. With more students than ever taking part, the Department of Education arranged the world record attempt to mark the occasion.

The cast of students erupted into cheers and applause on Friday as Guinness World Records adjudicator Solvej Malouf verified the record had been broken.

Wamberal performers shone on the night and many hours of rehearsals and meetings certainly paid off on the night. A huge congratulations to all involved and to all who travelled down to Olympic Park to watch the performances. Special thanks goes to Mrs Smith and Ms Burgess for all their hard work and dedication in organising our performance group.

GulangFest is held each year to celebrate Aboriginal art and culture. On Wednesday 23rd November, 18 students from our school participated in either song or dance, our student Aboriginal art was on display and 4 students were award recipients.  Zac won an art award for "Traditional Stories and Symbols". The AECG GulangFest awards went to Harmony, Clayton and Tia. The TLLC Koori Choir opened the ceremony singing the National Anthem in both Aboriginal and English language. Koori Choir students from Wamberal PS sang with pride and smiles and thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this wonderful celebration. The senior girls danced to a contemporary piece called "Little Brolgas journey". The dance told the story about the initiation of two little brolgas. The senior girls looked amazing and danced beautifully. The students from WPS are to be congratulated for representing our school with respect.
GulangFest 2016 was a great night!

Special thanks goes to Mrs Robbins and Mrs Tyson for their choreography and organisation.
